Besides the pandemic, cancer has had a major impact in my life. In 1987, my father passed away from lung cancer, and in 2005, my mother passed away from stomach cancer. She also had breast cancer. Now my husband who has survived prostate cancer twice, has liver cancer.
Clyde and I met in 1989 on an adult computer bulletin board named “The French Connection.” This was well before the internet. We dated for a while and then we both moved on to other relationships, but we remained friends. In October of 2000, we reunited and moved in together, and have been together ever since. On June 3, 2017, we married in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Country Club.
As I mentioned before, Clyde now has liver cancer and cirrhosis. He is on the transplant list, although his odds are not good for a transplant right now. Although, if we were to find a live donor for him, that would expedite his possibility for a transplant. I am the State President for GFWC Nevada, and I have chosen "Organ Donation Education" as my President's project. I plan to help GFWC (The General Federation of Women's Clubs) Health and Wellness Community Service Project address this and I hope to help implement an education program that you can be used in communities across the country. You never know whose life you might help to save.
Organ Donation Statistics
Every nine minutes another person is added to the transplant waiting list.
These are just a few statistics about organ donation. I am sure that this exemplifies how important that organ donation education is not only to our family but to our communities. You never know when you or a member of your family might need a transplant. On the other side, you never know when there is a tragedy in your family that lives can be saved. Feel free to download the attached brochure for more information about my president's project. I will keep this information updated as I make progress.
Thank you for your support.
